This print shows a group of women processing cocoons for silk. On the viewer's left is a rack containing four trays of silkworm cocoons. More cocoons are in a basket in front of the rack and in front of and next to the woman sitting in the back. The photographer (Kusakabe Kimbei?) labelled the print "Taking threac form cocoons (sic)". Turner has added the inscription "Silk is one of the three chief products of Japan. Others are rice and tea."
