Labelled "J57. Jinrikisha (Carriage)" by the photographer (Kusakabe Kimbei?), this image shows a group of three women being transported in rickshaws (Japanese, jinrikisha). Turner has added the inscription, "Jinrikisha are used everywhere in Japan. There are about 40,000 in the city of Tokyo."
