Description

This is an image of five farmers transplanting young rice plants to the rice paddy. Turner added the inscription "Setting out rice plants in June. Rice is the chief food of the Japanese. They raise about 220,000,000 bushels annually." The photographer (Kusakabe Kimbei?) titled the print H.2. Planting Rice Sprouts.
