This print shows a detail of the series of "Mizaru, Iwazaru, Kikazaru" (see no evil, speak no evil and hear no evil) monkey carvings which decorate the beams of the Shinkyûsha (Divine Horse Stable) at Tôshôgû shrine. There are eight sets of the carvings, which are symbols of a moral teaching. The photographer has labelled the print "5 Carving Monkey at Nikko."
