The photographer has labeled the print "I.5. The Sacred Bridge." Turner has added the inscription, "Sacred Bridge at Nikko built in 1638. No one is allowed to pass over it; in ancient times Shoguns + Pilgrims." There is a number "2922" written in black ink near the inscription, and written in pencil along the left edge is "Transferred from Oxford (2 vols) 5' 9 (4?). </text>
